Philosophy
My vision in regards to music encompasses a wide variety of possibilities. Close to my heart is the desire to see music touch lives in such a way that a person cannot describe in words what they have felt or experienced. I want to be able to communicate the language of music in such a way that any person can understand its value and directly relate to its meaning.
There is also a need to educate thoroughly and concisely so that the student may continue on a journey of perpetual advancement. Finding the fun, lightheartedness, and joy of learning and sharing music continually motivates me to seek knowledge in all genres.
Many correlations and parallels can be drawn between the oldest of Gregorian chants to the
newest of pop songs. Referencing familiar and unfamiliar songs and pieces is relevant to keep the mind engaged, active and open to receiving new ideas while contextualizing the old.
A wide variety of methods are used because each student has different needs and learning styles. To accommodate all who wish to learn, it is important to learn about the individual first to gather information about their interests, goals, and dreams. An initial interview in which musical background, goals, and aspirations are acessed, is imperative to gain information of what the student hopes to achieve from lessons. Only when there is a clear objective can real results occur.
